Reframing is a wonderful way of thinking differently
Rethinking is a beautiful way of thinking differently. What you do with rethinking is transforming negative thoughts into positive thoughts. Problems are often seen as obstacles. We would rather prevent those obstacles and therefore often avoid them. I always did that myself. However, I overlooked that problems actually want to tell you something, they want to teach you something. That's how it is with thoughts. Instead of avoiding painful or annoying thoughts, you actually transform them with rethinking. You tackle them instead of avoiding them.
Thoughts like I feel so bad, I really can't do this, I feel so rotten and why is this happening to me again, you learn to approach differently. You don't go along with those blocking thoughts. You start asking yourself the question: okay and now? What am I going to do with this? How can I get something positive out of this? What can I learn from this? What is the situation telling me now? What can I do to turn this rotten situation into a nice situation?
Berthold Gunster has written an inspiring book about it. If you find it interesting and want to delve deeper into it, I can definitely recommend the book. And that book is of course called… Omdenken. The book has given me a lot and was one of the first steps I took to create a more positive way of thinking. Especially because it is so accessible. The choice for the word booklet in this case was not made to make it smaller than it is. The choice for the word booklet was made because it only contains 65 pages. And if a booklet of 65 pages can make such a difference, then I can only say: chapeau! 🙌
